The Big Day
October 15th couldn’t have been a more perfect day. The weather was the epitome of a perfect fall day in Des Moines Iowa. It was a crisp 61 degrees and sunny. Josh and Taylor said their vows at West Des Moines Christian Church. After the ceremony, the bridal party hopped on the party bus and headed to downtown Des Moines to take photos. After photos they went on their way to get the party started with all of their friends and family at Terrace Hill Golf Course. Terrace Hill golf course has amazing views for photos (as well as for golfers ;-)), especially during an Iowa fall. The venue itself is gorgeous, with tall ceilings, natural light, and a cozy atmosphere. Josh and Taylor celebrated by cutting their Little Blackbird Bakery cake, enjoying a delicious dinner from Judges Signature Catering and dancing courtesy of Marquee Events.
As a photographer, I’m not sure I have had a more kind and welcoming family than Josh and Taylors. It was such a joy for me to witness the love & support surrounding them from friends and family. A lot of them traveled near and far for this celebration and it is always a fun to see that. The relationship between Taylor and her mom is one I hope to have with my girls too.

How They Met
At Iowa State University, Taylor and Josh were both a part of the Greek Community. Taylor was a Gamma Phi Beta. Josh was a Delta Tau Delta. Within their first 3 1/2 years at school, their paths never crossed… even though they ran in similar circles. Fast forward to New Year’s Eve 2014 at Johnny’s Hall of Fame in Des Moines, Iowa. Both Taylor & Josh were hanging out with their sorority sisters and fraternity brothers… ringing in the New Year. Around 11:30, Taylor did not know who she was going to kiss. Thanks to a sorority sister, she hinted maybe she should go for her friend Josh. So, Taylor went over to Josh and began to make small talk. They talked about whether or not he was a garbage man because of his Waste Management jacket. And, his destroyed white Nike sneakers. Once the clock struck midnight, Josh and Taylor kissed. Following that, he asked if he could buy her a drink. Taylor decided to take a page out of Cinderella’s book and dash off with her crew of Gamma Phi’s. Thankfully a few days later, Josh was still on Taylor’s mind so she decided to message him on Facebook. From there, the rest is history!
