I’ve been soo excited to share my experiences at this precious outdoor wedding in April that I was honored to be a part of.
My first meeting with Matt and Esther was at my favorite coffee shop, Horizon Line, in downtown Des Moines. I could tell right off the bat they were both laid back people who care a lot about their family and who love Jesus. When the bride says she wants her sister to feel just as beautiful as her on her wedding day, that speaks volumes. Esther’s family has been through a lot these last few years in regard to her sister’s health, specifically in the last year. Seeing them in action on their wedding day, serving, loving, and coming together was truly beautiful and remarkable. I left feeling so much gratitude for such fellow believers as this newly wed couple who walk through extremely difficult times and yet persevere and keep their faith. It was also such a good reminder that, while all the cute little details of weddings are fun, what all of us really look back on in fondness are the photos of the ones we love and hold dear to our hearts.
Early Morning Wedding Day Fun
The morning started super early around 5:30am with the bride and bridesmaids getting ready. It was a cool and crisp April morning with a beautiful sunrise. Getting ready was simple and light hearted. Again, the families servant hearts shined through when I was served a delicious breakfast from the camp kitchen. 🙂 With a 9:30am ceremony start time and it being an outdoor wedding, we got in as many photos before the ceremony as we could. Guests were greeted with blankets to keep them warm and fresh, hot coffee. The ceremony was sweet and to the point. I couldn’t help but mumble amen again and again when Matt and Esther read the vows they wrote to each other. After being married for 10 years myself, their vows were such a sweet reminder of the Gospel, the church, and the bride of Christ.
When the ceremony was over, guests walked just across the field to enjoy a delicious breakfast of pastries, fruit, yogurt, and delicious donuts! Oh, and a yummy coffee bar. It was truly a thoughtful, sweet & simple, Jesus honoring day and I can’t wait to see what the Lord does in and through this beautiful (both inside and out!) young couple Matt and Esther.
