Lori & Joel | Wedding

Intimate Ceremony at the Ball Park

Lori and Joel knocked it out of the park (so to speak!) for their intimate wedding. The day was hot, but breezy. They had an intimate ceremony on the 2nd floor of the baseball stadium, overlooking the Iowa Cubs field. This was followed by dinner at the Cub Club, which was also at the stadium. After the ceremony was over and a delicious dinner was served, the remainder of the night was filled with dancing and fireworks. The bride and groom kicked things off with a romantic dance on the field and they closed the night out with amazing fireworks.

Here is what the bride had to say about her groom:

How did you and Joel meet? Joel and I met online actually and then met in person at Jake’s Bar and Grill in Ankeny. I told him I had one hour to hang out (I always wanted to have an out, so I told him I had an hour just in case I didn’t like him… lol). We ended up hanging out until midnight! 🙂 We have been inseparable ever since!

What do you two enjoy doing together? We love listening to live music, dancing, and hanging out with our friends and family.

Describe your proposal. Joel surprised me with inviting several of our close friends and family to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, and then told me it was just us and a few others for dinner. Upon arrival at Johnny’s, there were about 40 people there. He had my mom make a special kneeling pillow for that night, got down on one knee, and proposed. That night, we danced to the same song that I walked down the isle to. He is very romantic. 🙂

What made you decide on a wedding at Principal Park? We knew a church wedding was out of the question for both of us. We originally wanted to get married at Water Works Park, but changed it
to Principal Park since that is where I work. Since we were having our reception at the Cub Club, it just made sense so that everything was in the same location.

What was your favorite part of the wedding day? There were several favorite parts of our wedding, but
one that is close to my heart is when Joel was reading his vows to me and I saw how heartfelt and difficult it was for him. Seeing that proves to me how much he loves me… I am a very lucky girl! Also, dancing with my family and friends was priceless!!
